Events Center Fills August Calendar With 42 Events

August proved to be a busy month for the newly-opened UPMC Events Center. The arena, located on Robert Morris University and managed by OVG Facilities, hosted a documentary filming for '98 Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, three concerts, four conference center special events, Freshman move-in and orientation, Women's Volleyball daily practice and RMU Sheraton Invitational. All together, 42 events took place at the UPMC Events Center in August.

Instead of spreading all the events throughout the month, the majority of the activity took place over just seven days - Sunday, August 11 through Saturday, August 17. The three concerts featuring Why Don't We, Bryan Adams, and The Doobie Brothers, and daily volleyball practice kept the UPMC Events Center's lights on into the early morning hours that week. OVG Facilities’ part-time event staff and crew documented over 500 venue-conversion hours during the seven days.

That week alone brought more than 9,500 people onto the campus of Robert Morris University, generating many positive reviews from guests of the new UPMC Events Center.
“We could not be more pleased at Robert Morris University with the success to date of the UPMC Events Center under OVG's management,” said Robert Morris University’s Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, Jonathon Potts. “The events center has made our campus an entertainment destination in the Pittsburgh region and has greatly elevated our reputation.”

The OVG Facilities’ team at the UPMC Events Center focuses on providing first-class hospitality to ensure each guest has an enjoyable experience. Here is what others had to say: "Beautiful new event center, well-staffed and clean" commented one, while another said, "This venue has awesome sound for concerts! It's bigger inside than it looks! Saw the Doobie Brothers and the sound level was perfect! Not cranked too loud. Comfortable seats. Easy to get to your seat with plenty of help if you need it. Very friendly help too!"

More events are on the horizon for the UPMC Events Center. The next concert is The Alchemy Tour on Thursday, September 5, followed by Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy on Friday, September 13. Tickets are still available and can be purchased in person at the venue's box office or online at Be sure to visit the website for a full listing of events and to learn more about the arena.
